Welcome to TEMPUS-TOURISM

The objective of the project is to establish European quality International Master Programmes "Tourism" in three Siberian regions – Tomsk, Altai and Khanty-Mansiysk – with direct participation of EU universities and regional tourism authorities and enterprises. This will build educational capacity and human competences in regions with considerable, but hitherto under-utilised, touristic potential, and thereby contribute to economic diversification of economic activity in regions otherwise depending on primary or secondary sectors of activity.

The project brings together a consortium of three Sibirian universities that have already taken significant steps to engage in high-level tourism education, and three EU universities with long-standing profiles in innovative and high-quality teaching in tourism, including extensive experience with project- and problem-based approaches to learning.

The project will result in the development and practical implementation of new MA curricula in the three Siberian universities, along with the upgrading of teaching skills and pedagogical equipment, and the building of close networks with public and private tourism actors within the three regions in order to ensure the best possible correspondance of the new study programmes to local needs. Moreover, increased internationalisation of the study programmes will also be ensured through exchange of teaching staff and student mobility between partner institutions.

Results of the projects will be disseminated to other universities/regions in especially Siberia on an ongoing basis, and once the project has been successfully completed, it may lead to the development of double/multi-degree schemes as a framework for ongoing cooperation between partners.
